This essence essay is a type of reflective essay, one where we will attempt to explain what the essence of something is.

When we talk about essence, we often mean the purest example of something, or a thing's most significant feature or characteristic ("Essence").

To prepare to write this essay, please read Bill Cosby's essay called, "Go Deep to the Sewer." (It's on p. 368 of the green literature book.) He opens by declaring that "The essence of childhood, of course, is play" and illustrates his point through stories about his childhood.
